Healthy Dividends Nutrition and Entrepreneurship Summer Program for High School Students

Are you a rising 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grader looking for a program that teaches you about healthy eating and an entrepreneurial career in nutrition? You can also choose to just take the nutrition part of the program, or just the entrepreneurship portion. Get a preview of the types of courses and concepts you will be learning about in college that prepare you to become a dietitian. Learn from a seasoned entrepreneur that has been teaching Nutrition Entrepreneurship at one of the most respected US universities for over 12 years.

Program Schedule and Fee

2-Part Program: Choose to Attend Nutrition or Entrepreneurship or Both

There are two parts to this program: 1 hour and 25 minutes of nutrition followed by a 10 minute break and then 1 hour and 25 minutes of entrepreneurship, career, time management, and extracurricular activities tips. The program runs 4 days per week Monday through Thursday.

You can attend the nutrition program, the entrepreneurship program, or both. The cost to attend both is $300 for the week. The cost to attend either nutrition or entrepreneurship alone is $175 for the week.

Entrepreneurship Part of Program

 Learn about all of the exciting things you can do as a nutrition entrepreneur such as:

  • Working with clients to help them eat better, lose weight, lower their cholesterol, recover from an eating disorder, prevent and treat diabetes, and more

  • Work with the media and Brands

  • ·Write books

  • Develop online courses

  • Create and analyze recipes for your own business or other organizations

·        See the salary range and trajectory for dietitians vs. other fields

·        Learn about how extracurricular activities can set you apart, and the types of nutrition-related extra-curricular activities you can do.

·        Learn tips about creating a blog and social media posts that set the stage for a career in nutrition i

·        Find out if becoming a dietitian is the career path for you.

·        Learn what it takes to be an entrepreneur, and if entrepreneurship is for you.

·        Learn about dietitian entrepreneurs and the exciting things they do.

 

Nutrition Part of Program

In the nutrition portion of the class you will learn about healthy eating

  • See what a balanced way of eating looks like

  • Learn how nutrition can increase your test scores

  • Discover why nutrition can make you a better athlete

  • Find out how nutrition can enhance your skin

  • Hear about body positivity, and healthy ways to manage weight

  • Learn about mindful eating

  • Learn about your macros- protein carbs and fat, and what healthy amounts are from each category

  • Learn about popular and fad diets and the pros and cons, such as the Mediterranean Diet, Intermittent Fasting, Keto, Paleo, Plant-Based, Vegetarianism

  • Learn about sugar, artificial and natural sweeteners, food additives, non-genetically modified

  • Get a preview of the types of courses you will take in college, and how you can prepare now

About Your Instructor

Tricia Silverman, RD, MBA,

Tricia has been teaching Nutrition Entrepreneurship online at Northeastern University for over 14 years. She earned her undergraduate degree with summa cum laude honors at SUNY (State University of New York) Oneonta. She completed an internship at CSPI, a nutrition advocacy group in Washington DC after earning her undergraduate degree, and then did her dietetic internship at the Harvard-affiliated Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She earned her MBA (Master’s in Business Administration) with honors from Babson College which is world- known for having the # 1 graduate program in Entrepreneurship. She has owned her own business since 2004 and has worked with many businesses, schools, insurance companies, and senior centers.
